Renowned Chinese economist Li Yining dies at 92

Li Yining, a renowned Chinese economist, died at 92 in Beijing on Monday, according to a statement released by Peking University (PKU).
He was a long-time professor of philosophy and social sciences at the PKU. He was also honorary dean of Guanghua School of Management in the China's leading university.
Li was one of the earliest scholars in China to propose reforms to the shareholding system, and his advocacy led to the establishment of China's stock market in 1990.
His contributions have had a great impact on the development of China's economy and have earned him the honorary title of "Pioneer of China's Reform and Opening-up" in 2018.
