A retired official who caused the death of a student and injured several others in a car crash in February 2016 was ordered executed on Tuesday by the Intermediate People’s Court of Nanyang, Henan Province, according to the command of execution from the Supreme People’s Court.
On Feb. 29, 2016, Ma Gaochao sped his car into Nanyang No. 1 Middle School and crashed into a crowd of students who had just finished their morning classes. The crash injured six students. He then headed into a group of students who were crossing the road. One student died on the spot and five others were injured. Police arrested Ma as he was escaping.
Ma was convicted of the crime of endangering public security by dangerous methods.
