Second rescue hole drilled at explosion site in East China's Shandong Province

The rescue team at the explosion site of a gold mine in Qixia city, East China's Shandong Province, successfully drilled a second hole on Monday to help save 12 trapped miners. (Photos: CGTN and Global Times, compiled by Huo Jiamian)

The blast happened at 2 pm on January 10, sealing the entrance, which is 600 meters away from the workers.

Rescuers successfully drilled a first channel on Sunday afternoon and confirmed the location of miners with a written message.

The status of the remaining 10 missing miners remains unclear as rescue operations continue.
