Media outlets and think tanks should broadcast, contribute to and push forward the concept of a shared destiny and common development to help construct an open world economy, Huang Kunming, a senior Communist Party of China official said on Monday.

In the keynote speech delivered at the Hongqiao International Business Media and Think Tank Forum, Huang Kunming, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, explained what role media outlets and think tanks should play in the era of economic globalization.

Huang, also head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, said media outlets and think tanks from different countries should uphold the banner of economic globalization, disseminate the concept of mutual benefit and win-win result, treat contradictions and differences objectively and fairly, construct a bridge for practical cooperation, and promote exchanges of different civilizations.

Mentioning President Xi Jinping's keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the first China International Import Expo (CIIE), Huang said that the speech shows China's policy on deepening its reform and opening-up, its determination to further participate in economic globalization, and its sincerity and undertaking to march with the world and share the benefits of development.

He noted that, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the reform and opening-up, holding the first CIIE is China's announcement that the nation will uphold the banner of reform and opening-up in the new era, and an important move that the nation will push forward a new round of opening to the outside world in a high level.

He summarizes four successful experiences of the reform and opening-up and shared them with the world which faces transformation and adjustment. The four inspirations are sharing a common destiny in communication, advancing development in opening up, gaining mutual benefits in cooperation, and promoting reform and innovation in mutual learning.

He called for efforts to construct an open world economy and a wonderful world of peaceful development and common prosperity.

With goods from 3,000 companies and 130 countries and regions being displayed, the CIIE is the first national-level expo in the world themed specifically in import and is an innovation in the history of international trade.

As an important activity in the framework of the first CIIE, the Hongqiao International Business Media and Think Tank Forum attracted more than 600 experts from media outlets and think tanks across the world.
