Three medical staff and a mother of a patient were stabbed at a hospital in Beijing on Monday, local media reported.

According to a witness, Tao Yong, the director of the ophthalmology department at Chaoyang Hospital, was stabbed by a man. At the same time, two medical staff from the ophthalmology department were attacked. A mother was injured while taking her child to the doctor. Then police arrived and arrested the attacker.

Three injured medical workers and one injured people are receiving treatment in hospital. The suspect has been detained and the case is undergoing further investigation, local authorities said.
