The patient is a 25-year-old nurse who worked at Shanghai Songjiang District Central Hospital.
She did not leave the city in the past two weeks and before August 2, all her nucleic acid test results were negative.
The positive result was found through routine testing of the hospital staff.
The patient has been transferred to a specially designated hospital for further treatment.
All her close contacts have been placed under quarantine. No further abnormal test results have been found.
Places linked to the infection chain have all been closed: Shanghai Songjiang District Central Hospital has suspended outpatient services and an epidemiological investigation initiated with screening tests for relevant individuals.
