Shanghai reports 1 imported COVID-19 case

SHANGHAI, April 29 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai reported one imported case of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and zero increase in locally transmitted COVID-19 case on Tuesday, the municipal health commission said Wednesday.

The confirmed case, a Chinese national who departed from Russia and arrived at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on April 10, showed symptoms during the isolated observation period and was later confirmed as a COVID-19 patient.

The imported case has been sent to a designated medical institution for treatment, while the close contacts on the flight have been put under quarantine.

The municipal health commission said a total of 306 imported cases had been reported in Shanghai by Tuesday. Among them, 53 patients remain in hospital for treatment with two of them in critical condition.

On Tuesday, no new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases were reported. The municipality had reported 339 locally transmitted confirmed cases by Tuesday, including seven deaths.
