The province took quick actions to implement the spirit of unswervingly encouraging, supporting and guiding the development of the non-public sector, as stressed by Chinese President Xi Jinping in a symposium on private enterprises in November.

On Nov. 20, the Sichuan provincial Party committee held a meeting on healthy development of the private sector, and commended 100 excellent private entrepreneurs and 100 private companies to encourage their performance.

Sichuan has worked hard to support private companies, Peng introduced.

Earlier this year, Sichuan authorities discussed issues such as promoting high-quality economic development, and worked out an overall scheme to support private enterprises.

In October, the province sent officials and cadres to Guangdong and Zhejiang to learn their experiences in deepening reforms to streamline administration and delegate powers, improve regulation, and optimize services, as well as creating a good business environment for private companies.

The provincial Party chief introduced that Sichuan has rolled out 20 specific measures to support and cultivate private companies.

It has trimmed taxation for private companies and offered preferential tax policies for key start-ups. It also cut labor, electricity and gas costs for private companies.

Sichuan will also take an effort to make financing a little easier and less expensive for private firms, such as encouraging banks to heighten support for private companies, especially small and medium ones. The province pledges to satisfy the reasonable financing demands of private companies as far as possible.

Peng said Sichuan will make concerted efforts to build a new type of cordial and clean relationship between government and business, such as paying more attention to the development of private companies, supporting those in need of help and assessing cadres and officials according to their work related to supporting private firms, especially small and medium ones.
