Los Angeles - The 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (NCCPC) will officially commence October 18 in Beijing. The week-long political session is a hot topic among Chinese immigrant communities in Southern California.

Community leaders say that great strides in social governance and economic development have been made, and China will find greater prosperity. China’s economic stability and growing strength will provide sustainability for those living abroad.

Shechao Li, president of the Chinese American Federation USA, said that China has now entered a new phase of development. As the country’s power and influence have risen, its diplomatic goals have followed, as Li elaborated. The advancement of Chinese culture worldwide and protecting Chinese interests will remain priorities.

“The 19th NCCPC will draw a roadmap for China’s future development. It will lead its society and economy to an even better path of growth,” said Song Guo, president of the Roundtable of Chinese American Organizations.

China has made great strides over the past five years, and economic growth has remained steadfast, said Guipeng Wen, president of the Great Los Angeles Chinese American Forum.

Chenghua Cai, president of the American Jiangsu Chamber of Commerce, said the 19th NCCPC will receive massive worldwide attention. Cai emphasized that effective measures in the fight against corruption have proven to be successful as the country’s laws continue to make the nation stronger.

“Chinese have been supportive of the nation’s efforts to maintain social harmony,” Cai said, pointing out that innovative policies, such as the 'Belt and Road' initiative, have inspired a greater sense of patriotism.

“It’s not just a big event for the CPC, but also a significant moment in the lives of all Chinese across the world,” Cai concluded.
