Suspect Didi driver arrested on suspicion of murdering a female passenger

Zhong Yuan, a ride-hailing driver who was suspected of killing a female passenger, was arrested by the procuratorate in Yueqing, Zhejiang Province on Monday.  Zhong was accused of robbery, rape and deliberate murder, said local authorities.

Didi Chuxing, China’s largest ride-sharing firm, suspended its Hitch service and vowed to intensify safety procedures on Sunday, following this second murder case of passengers using the Hitch ride sharing service.

The body of the woman, surnamed Zhao, was found on Saturday by police in Yueqing, East China’s Zhejiang Province.
