Ten trapped hikers rescued after avalanche hits Xinjiang's Changji

All 10 people trapped by an avalanche in northwest China were rescued Tuesday morning, China Central Television (CCTV) reported.

The hikers were trapped after an avalanche struck a mountainous area in Changji Monday in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, according to Urumqi's fire brigade.
The hikers were carried back by two helicopters of the local rescue team. Two wounded people are being treated at a nearby hospital, CCTV reported.
The hiking team set off from Urumqi on April 5, and planned to finish hiking on April 7, the report said.
