The test run of the Chongli Railway in Zhangjiakou, North China's Hebei province, and one of the key transport networks for the 2022 Winter Olympics, will start this month, according to China Railway 20 Bureau Group Co.

The 52.84-kilometer railway, starting from Xiahuayuan North Station in Zhangjiakou city to Taizicheng Station in Chongli district, is designed to run at 250 kilometers per hour, said the group, which is in charge of part of the line's construction.

It connects with the Beijing-Zhangjiakou high-speed railway via the Xiahuayuan North Station.

Upon completion of the two railways, travel time between Beijing and Chongli will be reduced to just under one hour, it said.

Chongli district, about 220 kilometers from Beijing, will host most ski events during the upcoming 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games.
