The world's second artificially raised baby finless porpoise celebrated its 100-day birthday on Monday at the Institute of Hydrobiology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Wuhan, central China's Hubei Province.

The cub was born on June 2 to a nine-year-old female Yangtze finless. During the 100 days, the baby finless porpoise grew rapidly and monitoring data showed that it was healthy and growing normally. It is also the second finless porpoise to survive at the institute since the world's first captive breeding of the Yangtze river porpoise in 2005. The porpoise is one of the national-level protected animals in China and listed as a critically endangered species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
