BEIJING, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- The Three Gorges reservoir has replenished more water to the lower reaches of the Yangtze River to meet the water and power demand as the novel coronavirus outbreak has affected the power supply in Hubei Province.

As of Feb. 4, nearly 6.18 billion cubic meters of water had been diverted to the lower reaches, 2.5 billion cubic meters more than the same period last year, according to the China Three Gorges Corporation.

The increase in water diversion has effectively secured the demand for water and power consumption in the middle and lower reaches, and facilitated the shipping of supplies for epidemic prevention, said an official with the corporation.
