On Saturday, the underwater tunnel crossing the Qiantang River, constructed by the China Railway 14th Bureau Group, was opened to public traffic. (Compiled by Yang Luxin)

This tunnel is 4,616 meters long, with double holes and six lanes. Of all the municipal tunnels crossing the Qiantang River, this one has the largest diameter.

There are two kinds of emergency escapes accessible to passengers in this tunnel: escape slides and staircases.

Built using shield tunneling, this tunnel is an important part of the expressway network in Qiantang district, Hangzhou.
