China said Friday the UK made unfounded remarks about Hong Kong affairs and that it is ridiculous for the UK to consider itself the SAR’s “supervisor”.

“I have repeatedly stressed that Hong Kong affairs are China's domestic affairs in which any other country has no right, nor any chance, to interfere. The so-called British ‘responsibility’ for Hong Kong does not exist,” said Hua Chunying, the spokesperson of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).

Media reported that the British government issued its so-called biannual report on Hong Kong affairs on September 6.

We are strongly dissatisfied and resolutely opposed to the British government's regular issuance of the so-called biannual report which makes unwarranted comments on Hong Kong affairs. We urge the British side to face the facts, stop publishing relevant reports and stop interfering in Hong Kong affairs, said Hua.

Since the reunification of Hong Kong, the policies of "one country, two systems", "the people of Hong Kong governing Hong Kong" and a high degree of autonomy for Hong Kong have been effectively implemented. The basic rights and freedoms enjoyed by Hong Kong residents in accordance with the law are fully guaranteed by the Constitution, the Basic Law of Hong Kong and Hong Kong's local laws. These facts cannot be denied, Hua said at the regular press conference on Friday.
