Inner Mongolia’s Ulan Suhai Lake, one of the eight freshwater lakes in China, is on a main Eurasian bird migration route. In recent years, the size of Ulan Suhai Lake has grown and water quality has improved. In order to protect migrating birds, Inner Mongolia has also designated a core area for nesting and spawning of birds in the Ulan Suhai wetlands, forbidding human activities and taking measures to monitor the habitat and reproduction of birds.
