China and Japan are neighbors and natural to strengthen cooperation against the outbreak, said the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman on Friday.

"I've mentioned many times that virus knows no borders, but the worst of times reveals the best in people," said Geng Shuang at a press briefing, when asked to comment on the mutual support between the two countries in combating the disease.

"China appreciates the aid and donations from Japan," said Geng, "and we are also closely following the situation in Japan and completely relate to what they are going through."

"Despite our shortage in medical protection supplies and rigorous situation, we are always ready to share knowledge and experiences to contain the epidemic and offer our help," said Geng.

When supporting each other, we solidify long-lasting friendship and mutual trust. It also embodies the cooperation ties between China and the international community to confront crises. 

China is willing to keep close contact with Japan to safeguard its people's health and safety, and together to make contributions to the world's public health cause, added Geng.
