The 90-day temporary general license created by the US does not make much sense to Huawei, Huawei’s founder and CEO Ren Zhengfei said when answering the media's questions.

“Huawei is ready. But at the same time, we are grateful to American companies, which have grown with us for 30 years and made a lot of contributions to us. Many of our consultants come from American companies such as IBM,” said Ren.

What the US government does is not something we can control, and this is not a matter of American companies, Ren added.

The US’ current practice underestimates Huawei, and Huawei’s 5G technology will definitely not be affected, Ren said.

Huawei can also make the same chips, which have provided half of its supply in usual, Ren added.

“We will not exclude US chips. We want to grow together, but if there’s a supply difficulty, we have backups," Ren said. “We can make our own chips, but it doesn’t mean we will not buy it from abroad. We don't want to be isolated from the world.”
