"China firmly opposes to the groundless and slanderous accusation alleging China is interfering in the 2020 US election”, said Wang Wenbin, spokesperson of China’s Foreign Ministry, during a regular press conference on Wednesday.

US national security adviser Robert O’Brien wrote an op-ed in the Washington Post on Sunday, in which he accused China of seeking to interfere in the US election and influence US politics.

Wang said China has always adhered to the principle of non-interference in other countries’ internal affairs, and the international community can figure out which country frequently meddles in other countries’ internal affairs.

He also urged the Trump administration to stop meddling in China’s internal affairs and end its smear campaign against China.
