It's a plain fact that the US officials met and contacted so-called leaders of Hong Kong separatists, blamed the Chinese central government for no reason, stood up for violent and illegal activities, and sabotaged the prosperity and stability of Hong Kong, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said at a routine press briefing Monday.

Recently, the US frequently made irresponsible and erroneous comments, confused right with wrong, and fanned the flames by making irresponsible remarks about Hong Kong, said Hua.

"I want to ask the US government about their motives and purposes behind what they did with Hong Kong," Hua added.

She reaffirmed the fact that Hong Kong belongs to China and Hong Kong affairs are China's internal affairs. "We strongly urge US to abide international laws and basic rules of international relations, and stop interfering in Hong Kong affairs and China's internal affairs," Hua noted.
