The hegemonic acts of the United States have drawn widespread, strong condemnation in Hong Kong and have been considered bullying and unreasonable by the mainstream public opinion, a spokesperson of the liaison office said in a statement.
Netizens have expressed support for the firm stance of central government agencies responsible for Hong Kong affairs and the HKSAR government, and have described the so-called U.S. sanctions as a bluff without tangible effects, the spokesperson said, adding that interactions of related topics on social media have reached 7.12 million.
The strong public opinion once again proved that the Chinese people will not be intimidated and the so-called sanctions are nothing but a joke, the spokesperson said.
