The US statement on Xinjiang in the name of Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is a ridiculous lie, said Hua Chunying, the spokesperson of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), at a routine press conference on Wednesday.

Hua made the remarks after the US issued a statement on Xinjiang in the name of Mike Pompeo. The claim tagged China's policies on the Xinjiang region as "crimes against humanity" and "genocide."

The alleged "crimes against humanity" and "genocide" are simply a lie and a ridiculous farce forged by certain anti-China forces like Mike Pompeo. Such groundless allegations only exist in their vicious political conspiracies, and would never ever happen in China.

China has been telling the truth of Xinjiang repeatedly and patiently. Eight white papers on Xinjiang have been published, and 23 press conferences have been held by Xinjiang's local government, all of which have presented the happy, harmonious and united life of Xinjiang residents with numerous numbers and cases.

Hua noted the region has made remarkable progress in health, ethnic minority groups’ rights, anti-terrorism and employment over the decades. Pompeo’s lies are an insult to Chinese people and also dishonor the international community’s ability to distinguish between right and wrong, Hua said.

Pompeo’s words also reflect the evil motive of fabricating Xinjiang related issues to interfere in China’s internal affairs and disturb China’s development, added Hua.
