The US has been abusing its national security standards to suppress specific Chinese companies, which runs counter to fair competition, Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Lu Kang said at a routine press briefing on Friday.

The development and use of 5G technology depends on communication and cooperation between countries, Lu said.

Attempts to apply political factors to 5G development, application and cooperation or even abuse its national security standards to suppress specific companies to politicize relevant issues in a discriminatory manner, like what the US has done, are not good for the technology’s growth and run counter to fair competition, Lu added.
