US President Donald Trump's agreement to sell $8 billion worth of F-16V fighter jets to Taiwan severely violates the one China principle and the three Sino-US joint communiques, said Defense Ministry spokesman Wu Qian on Friday.

“Taiwan is an inalienable part of China, and the arms deal has seriously interfered in China's domestic affairs, heavily undermining China's sovereignty and security,” Wu said.

“The reckless US move is totally wrong and dangerous, as it also undermines the Sino-US military relations as well as the peace and stability across the strait.”

“China urges US to cease arms sales to Taiwan and immediately suspend US-Taiwan military contact,” added Wu. “Chinese army is firmly determined, fully confident and capable of crushing ‘Taiwan independence’ separatist forces and safeguarding national unity and sovereignty as well as the peace and stability across the strait.”
