A US national has witnessed the railway development in China over the past thirty years, according to a Wechat post of China Railway (CR).

Brian Linden, a train enthusiast from Chicago has been exploring China on train wheels since his arrival in the country in 1984.

Having spent over 200 nights on China's trains, which reportedly rolled him passing through almost all Chinese provinces and regions, the US national praised the rapid development taken place here over the past 30 years, noting that the ever-changing Chinese railway made him feel incredible.

According to the US traveler, it cost him 10 hours to take a bus from Kunming, capital of Yunnan Province, to Dali city, in 1985, but the trip has been cut down to 2 hours by train now, thanks to a new high-speed rail line that opened to traffic in July this year.

In 1987, the tourist spent over 5 hours to travel from Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu Province, to Shanghai -- a journey can be completed in about an hour now.

Having visited more than 100 countries, Linden regards China's high-speed rail as much safer and more comfortable compared with trains in other countries.

The Chicago-born Linden is now running a heritage hotel in the city of Dali, Yunnan Province, with his family. They have been living there for 10 years since 2008.

Dubbed as "a Sino-US cultural ambassador," Linden once told journalists with mzb.com.cn that he is willing to introduce the beauty of China westwards while providing more opportunities for Chinese locals to know the occidental world.
