The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) lashed out at the US for pulling out of the Open Skies Treaty, saying the move undermines military trust and transparency, and international security.

"The US move undermines military mutual trust and transparency among relevant countries. It is not conducive to maintaining international security and stability in relevant regions, and will also have a negative impact on the international arms control and disarmament process," MFA spokesperson Zhao Lijian said at a regular media conference on Monday.

"The US should take its conventions with Russia and other countries seriously and resolve conflicts through dialogue. It is not the correct attitude and practice, as one of the major countries in the world, to withdraw treaties frequently," Zhao added.
