China has decided to compensate people who suffer health damage due to the adverse effects of vaccines.

A draft law drawn to implement the decision was submitted to the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress for deliberation Saturday.

The draft provides for compensation to persons who suffer death, serious disability, organ tissue damage or other damages during or after the vaccination.

It also makes punishment for illegal acts pertaining to vaccination stricter, and strengthens provisions for punitive damages. If an unqualified vaccine is sold or administered, the recipient or close relatives can ask for punitive damages in addition to claiming other damages.
