Dianchi Lake officially opened for fishing on Oct. 16. To protect the ecological environment of Dianchi Lake, only whitebaits and small shrimps are allowed to be fished during the 30 day fishing season this year, and any other aquatic products harvest are prohibited. In the late 1980s, Dianchi Lake became murky because of the industrial and domestic waste discharged into it. To protect Dianchi Lake, the central government and Yunnan provincial authorities then implemented a series of measures to restore its lost splendor after decades of severe pollution. After over 30 years of endeavors, water quality of Dianchi Lake has been improved. Water quality in the Dianchi Lake remained to grade IV in the first half of 2019. (Photos: Xinhua)
