WeChat recently punished illegal acts on WeChat Official Account Platforms for spreading pirated popular movies, including "The Wandering Earth," "Crazy Alien," and "Pegasus."

From February 4 to 11, WeChat deleted nearly 500 articles reported by users, containing pirated content or resources for the movies.

WeChat punished nearly 190 public accounts for suspected copyright infringement, stopping some functions of them, and closing or blocking the accounts.

For piracy in a wider range, WeChat implements key word protection and adjusts search results during registration and verification to guarantee the rights of copyright owners, the WeChat team said. The team will permanently block accounts or refuse to offer service to the operators, besides cleaning up relevant content, in terms of multiple suspected illegal acts, they said.
