Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping and a strong advocate of health and combating tuberculosis and HIV, addressed via a video a rally celebrating the 10th anniversary of "Love in the Sunshine" in Beijing on September 8.
"With care and support from the Party, government, organizations and good Samaritans, no one will be stranded on a helpless island," Peng said, according to a video published on the website of the National Health Commission (NHC).

In the video, Peng shared her experience and feelings about HIV prevention and control over the past 15 years. She recalled time she spent with children affected by AIDS, and encouraged them to study hard, grow up healthy and become pillars of the state as soon as possible.
"Love in the Sunshine" is a program dedicating to helping children living with or affected by HIV in China. It was jointly launched in 2010 by Chinese Association of STD and HIV Prevention and Control and China Health Education Center directly under the NHC.

Each year, a summer camp is held for scores of children living with or affected by HIV. From 2013 to 2019, Peng attended the camp every year.
Peng became an ambassador for HIV/AIDS prevention and control in China in January 2006. In June 2011, she was appointed as the World Health Organization goodwill ambassador for tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS, and in 2017 the appointment was renewed.
