A woman in Guangdong Province who was paralyzed after being struck by a dog that fell from a balcony has filed a lawsuit against everyone in the building.

Video footage captured the moment Zhang Ping (pseudonym) was struck by the medium-sized dog as she approached the entryway of the building in Guangzhou back in April.

The dog walked it off, but Zhang was knocked unconscious in the accident, Guangzhou Daily reported. "When I woke up I was in the hospital. I couldn't move anymore," Zhang told the Guangzhou Daily.

Her family has so far paid more than 400,000 yuan ($57,570) in medical bills.

Before the first hearing in August, the Baiyun District People's Court issued a notice encouraging the public to offer information about the case.

When the dog's owner didn't step forward, Zhang filed a lawsuit against every tenant and landlord in the building. The court opened its third hearing of the case on Friday.

According to China's Tort Liability Law, in cases involving injuries sustained from falling objects from buildings, the burden of proof falls on the building's occupants.
