Chinese President Xi Jinping conducted an inspection tour of Beijing and extended Spring Festival greetings on Friday morning.
Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, paid a visit to Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau, expressing Chinese New Year greetings to all police officers.
During the visit, Xi made a video call to a policeman who was performing his duty.
In addition, Xi extended greetings and blessings to all Chinese people as the Spring Festival draws near.
Xi also walked into a home in Qianmen, a centuries-old area which was renovated for better living conditions while the traditional buildings were preserved.
He talked with local residents, learning about their daily lives and made dumplings together.
After his inspection, Xi greeted couriers and restaurant owners who continued to work as millions of Chinese people start their journey to family reunions.
