On September 3, 2016, Xi introduced the city where he has worked and lived for six years at the Hangzhou G20 Business Summit - "Hangzhou is an innovative and vibrant city with booming e-commerce. Just click the mouse in Hangzhou, and you connect to the whole world. Hangzhou is also a leader in ecological conservation. Its green hills and clear lakes and rivers delight the eye on sunny days and present a special view on rainy days. Hangzhou is imbued with a charm unique to the south of the Yangtze River that has been fostered over many generations.”

On March 31 this year, Xi came to Hangzhou again. His concept of people-centered development in urban construction is clearly conveyed in his inspection tour in the city, which is closely related to ecology and innovation.

On Tuesday, Xi visited Xixi National Wetland Park, a 5A-level scenic spot and the country's first national wetland park. There he inspected the preservation and utilization of the wetland.

There are five major ecological protection areas and ecological restoration areas in Xixi Wetland, with a greening rate of above 85 percent.

The beauty of Xixi is manifested not only in its nature but also in its culture. There are a large number of poems and verses of ancient celebrities left in the park. In October 2007, the second phase of Xixi Wetland themed culture and leisure was opened to the public. Visitors were impressed by the shops featuring local culture, such as shops of folk food, exquisite handicrafts, cultural and creative products.

City parks and cultural districts have been the focus of many of Xi’s domestic inspection trips. In December 2015, at a conference on urban work, Xi pointed out that urbanization that should serve people's needs and the highest level of urbanization is its livability.
