Leaders of different foreign political parties who have visited Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region said people should see the real intention of fabricating and spreading rumors about the region in global society and learn more facts about Xinjiang.
Also, the anti-terrorism measures in the region, which has been the frontline of China's battle on terrorism, have proven to be effective, they said on the sidelines of an online thematic briefing on Xinjiang held in the regional capital, Urumqi, on Monday, adding that it has set a good example for the world in the fight against terrorism.
The event is a part of the "Stories of the Communist Party of China" thematic briefings organized by the International Department of CPC Central Committee. The briefings aim to share the practices of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.
More than 310 representatives from nearly 190 foreign political parties, organizations, media and think tanks took part in the briefing, focusing on the stories of how Xinjiang people work towards better lives under the leadership of CPC. The event was live-streamed online in languages that included French, English and Arabic.
"Some Western countries have fabricated rumors about Xinjiang. Those rumors have ignored the region's anti-terrorism and extremism efforts, which are among the best in the world," said Kawa Mahmoud, secretary of the Kurdistan Communist Party of Iraq.
Mahmoud said that during his visit he has witnessed how the region's economic development has benefited from the stabilized social environment.
"China should stick to its development path and continue to refute rumors that aim to curb the development of the country," Mahmoud said.
Dogu Perincek, chairman of the Patriotic Party of Turkey, has visited Xinjiang fives times.
"Every time I am impressed with the region's development," he said. "What's more, China's anti-terrorism achievements in Xinjiang have inspired Turkey, which also suffers from terrorism."
