Chinese Political Bureau member Yang Jiechi Wednesday met US National Security Advisor John Bolton at the White House ahead of a high-level security dialogue. Both agreed to work together to prepare for a presidents' meeting at the G20 summit in Argentina.

Yang noted that maintaining the healthy and stable development of China-US relations is in the fundamental interests of the people of the two countries and also the people of the world. On November 1, the two heads of China and the US again spoke and exchanged views on China-US relations and important issues of common concern, agreeing to meet during the G20 summit in Argentina. The second round of China-US Diplomatic and Security Dialogue on the 9th of this month will prepare for the presidents' meeting in Argentina. Yang also stressed that both sides should make elaborate preparations to assure positive results for this meeting.

Bolton said that President Donald Trump is very much looking forward to meeting with President Xi Jinping during the G20 summit in Argentina. The US is willing to maintain close contacts with China and prepare carefully to promote positive results between the two heads of states. He noted that the US is also willing to strengthen communication and cooperation with China on bilateral relations and major international and regional issues, and promote more progress and results.
