Chinese basketball legend Yao Ming has graduated from Shanghai Jiao Tong University 7 years after he was enrolled as an undergraduate student, reports Chinanews.com.

At the graduation ceremony on Sunday, the 38-year-old former NBA star thanked his parents for insisting him to get a bachelor's degree, saying his commitment to them supported him to finish the studies.

Yao, now the president of Chinese Basketball Association, wished his fellow graduates to find their own life values and a bright future.

Yao started a tailored degree program at the Antai College of Economics & Management of Shanghai Jiao Tong University after retiring from basketball in 2011.
