China’s Zhengzhou-Fuyang Railway officially entered service on December 1. The 267-kilometer railway linking Zhengzhou of Central China's Henan Province and Fuyang of East China's Anhui Province is designed with a speed of 350 kilometers per hour. (Photos: Provided to People's Daily)
It will have 11 stations in total and eight will be in Henan Province: Zhengzhou South, Xuchang North, Yanling, Fugou South, Xihua, Zhoukou East, Huaiyang South and Shenqiu North. The other three, Jieshou South, Linquan and Fuyang West, will be in Anhui Province.
The cities of Fuyang and Zhoukou, beset by anemic local economies and poverty, are known as the home to migrant workers. The operation of the railway will therefore provide great convenience for passengers and contribute to regional economic cooperation and the country’s poverty reduction programs.
By connecting the Beijing-Hong Kong, Hefei-Nanjing and Hefei-Fuzhou high-speed railways, the Zhengzhou-Fuyang line will also give new impetus to closer exchanges between China’s central and coastal regions. (Compiled by Shen Feng)
