The Zhengzhou-Taiyuan high-speed railway was officially opened to traffic on Saturday. It encompasses the Jiaozuo-Zhengzhou section, which has been in use since 2015. Now the high-speed railway connecting the capital cities of Henan Province and Shanxi Province is completely in service.

The railway spans a total of 432 kilometers. The newly-opened Taiyuan-Jiaozuo section is 372 kilometers long. The maximum speed of the railway is 250 kilometers per hour.

The terrain Zhengzhou-Taiyuan high-speed railway covers is complicated, so unavoidably a large part of it is built on bridges and tunnels, conquering formidable difficulties. In Shanxi Province alone, there are 103 bridges and 36 tunnels, of which five are over 10 kilometers long. The bridges and tunnels account for 73 percent of the total track length.

The newly-built stations along the way are electronically and intelligently controlled to enhance the passenger experience. Passengers can complete identification verification and ticket check in simply with their ID cards.
