"A second wave of COVID-19 outbreak in China is unlikely to happen," said Zhong Nanshan, a Chinese respiratory specialist, when asked about the domestic epidemic situation on Friday.

"With rigorous mass prevention and control measures implemented in China, new cases of COVID-19 are probably confined to a very small number. I don’t believe there will be a second domestic outbreak of COVID-19 with such strong and effective prevention and control work,”said he.
