Politics
From June to July 2017, a general election was held in Papua New Guinea. In August, a new parliament and government were formed. And Peter O'Neill was re-elected Prime Minister.
Education
The education system is implemented at three levels: central, provincial and prefectural. The national literacy rate is 57.8 percent in this country.

On October 12, 1976, China established diplomatic relations with Papua New Guinea.
On April 25, 2019, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Papua New Guinea Prime Minister Peter O'Neill, who attended the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.
On April 26, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Friday met with Papua New Guinea Prime Minister Peter O'Neill, who attended the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing.
After the meeting, they witnessed the signing of cooperation documents between the two sides.
On April 27, 2019, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Papua New Guinean Foreign Minister Rimbink Pato in Beijing.
