The Story in Beijing performance season will start on August 1st with 20 theater works being staged across the city. According to the event organizers, these 20 works were selected from 75 Chinese plays from troupes from around the country and will hit stages in the city including the National Theater, Star Theatre and Qinglan Theatre.
Most of the productions are based on true stories, such as Jiangjunli, which tells the story of how social changes impact a small Beijing community.
Ten Years follows the true life story of retired teacher Sun Lina and her husband as they spend a decade teaching children from poor families in a remote and mountainous village school.
Additionally, the season also includes theater plays discussing the relationships between human beings and their pets such as Hi, Mick, which tells a touching story about a dog and his owner.
Plays inspired by Chinese traditional opera will also be staged.
