13th Sino-Italian Exchange Event opens in Beijing

The 13th Sino-Italian Exchange Event 2019 was launched on Monday at the Beijing Science Center, with over 30 tech companies from China and Italy showcasing their products.

During the opening ceremony, Sima Hong, executive vice president of Beijing Association for Science and Technology, delivered a speech about how this exchange event had benefitted R&D institutions, universities, and businesses from both sides in the past, as well as promoted technological and economic cooperation. “As the new round of technological and industrial revolution emerges worldwide, sci-tech innovation is becoming increasingly important. China and Italy are committed to working together on building a cooperation and innovation highland going forward,” she said.

After the opening ceremony, a seminar focusing on the applications of digital technology in the preservation of cultural relics was held. Experts from both countries discussed the current situations and challenges for cultural heritage protection from the perspectives of new materials, new technologies, and new ideas.

Four roundtable conferences and an exhibition were also held Monday. The roundtables featured topics including medical health, smart transportation, modern agriculture and food safety, teaching methods and innovative ideas.

During the exchange event, various road shows, networking events, and field trips will be arranged to foster connectivity and collaboration.

The event is co-hosted by the Beijing Association for Science and Technology, Italy’s Ministry of Education, University and Research, among others.
