The first batch of 100 film screenings for the main event at this year's Beijing International Film Festival (BJIFF) was unveiled on Thursday.
Co-hosted by the Beijing Municipal People's Government and China Media Group (CMG), the annual event, in its ninth edition this year, is scheduled to take place from April 13 to 20 in China's capital city under the theme "Home, Country."
According to Wang Jue, deputy secretary-general of the organizing committee, more creative and diverse events will be held surrounding the theme to showcase a panoramic picture of the development of Chinese cultural industries, to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
Since its establishment in 2011, the Beijing International Film Festival has grown to be one of the most prestigious and star-studded film festivals in Asia.
This year's festival includes seven main events: the main competition section "Tiantan Awards," the out-of-competition section "Beijing Film Panorama," theme forums "Beijing Plan," Beijing Market, Film Carnival, the opening ceremony, as well as the closing and awards ceremony.
It will also feature other special sections like "Film Concert" and "Forward Future" with more than 300 activities. The public can not only watch the screenings but also participate in diverse events to savor the charm of the film.
