NEW YORK. Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- A fashion show bringing together four young Chinese designers was held in downtown Manhattan Wednesday night as a highlight of the New York Fashion Week 2020 Spring/Summer runway shows.
Under the theme "Dynasty", the 30-minute show presented the latest pieces by Hiuman Chau, Leaf Xia, Fengyi Tan, and Eva Xu, all Chinese female designers aged under 35.
Their collections drew inspiration respectively from the aesthetics of the Qin, Tang, Song and Qing dynasty to showcase the mixed charm of modernity and tradition.
Models on runway displayed varying colors, silhouettes, materials and accessories of the garments. Hundreds of attenders on both wings kept taking photos and videos of the looks they loved. The designers appeared at the end of the show, drawing rounds of applause and cheers.
The show was presented by ICY, a Shanghai-based fashion platform that partners with emerging designers for producing, marketing and selling their collections.
ICY founder Gu Yingying told Xinhua that she hoped the show could demonstrate the depth and beauty of Chinese culture and the progress of Chinese fashion industry at a global stage.
"I chose to collaborate with these four designers due to their shared experience of studying in the West and working with international designers, while still obtaining a good understanding of Chinese culture," said Gu.
The semiannual New York Fashion Week kicked off on Wednesday, presenting the works of dozens designers, which will set new trends for 2020 spring and summer.
