A millennia-old set of bronze figures playing mahjong has unleashed a torrent of sales at the Sanxingdui Museum online gift shop.

The clever miniature imitations of the relics discovered at the Sanxingdui Ruins are selling for 261 yuan ($39) per set after discount.

Opened in 2021, the shop on Tmall.com has 109 products, ranging from fridge magnets and key chains to T-shirts, all featuring the images of relics discovered in Sichuan Province, dating back 3,000 to 4,500 years.

Some millenia-old brass figures have been reimagined doing contemporary activities. The creative marketing is drawing wide attention.
