The Wuzhen Theatre Festival is an annual event co-founded and led by China's leading director-actor Stan Lai, Huang Lei and Meng Jinghui. Now in its sixth year, the event has already become one of the premier festivals in China and Asia.

The Wuzhen Theatre Festival is a grand celebration of art performances and a hub for cultural exchanges that consists of various inter-related parts, including Special Invited Plays, the Young Theatre Artists Competition, the Outdoor Carnival, and the Wuzhen Dialogues and the Theatre Forums.

The entire 1,000-year-old water town is transformed into a stage, and theatre lovers from all over the world come to enjoy this rolling performance of the theatrical arts.

Visitors can choose from a selection of specially invited plays created by the world's great theater groups and artists.

They can also be inspired by the new works created just for the festival from the Young Theatre Artists Competition.

The Wuzhen Dialogues and Theatre Forums bring artists and theatre lovers together, and the non-stop Outdoor Carnival in the streets and plazas of the town create an immersive experience that can not be missed.

The most unique aspect of the Wuzhen Theatre Festival is the variety of all its performance spaces.

Within walking distance of each other, there are over ten venues that sport widely differing characteristics -- all exuding the charm and beauty of the ancient water town.

These striking venues create a theatre cluster that is not only unique in China, but also in any other theatre festivals in the world.
