A baby turtle was washed up in Boca Raton, Florida, and sent to the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center.

It had died shortly and was found with 104 pieces of plastic in its stomach.

The Gumbo Limbo Nature Center on Tuesday shared a photo on Facebook of the tiny loggerhead sea turtle lying next to what had apparently killed it. The plastics range from balloon pieces to bottle labels.

Staff at the center told CNN that plastics stuck on seaweed look like food to baby turtles. The turtles feel full after feeding on plastics and stop eating food.
