When it comes to portraying the real world situations, film director Jia Zhangke is the man.

His works are particularly focused on the current social changes in China, and the pursuit of "the penetrating power of the image upon the reality." Jia’s image of the world is gradually becoming a unique way of understanding China.

His new work, "Ash is the purest white", was nominated at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival. By highlighting the wandering lifestyle of a special group of “blood brothers”, Jia amplified a little-known aspect of Chinese society for the world audience.
