With most of his work focusing on the theme of youth, Zheng Kai has become a Chinese mainland idol in the eyes of most audiences. He has been active in the entertainment industry over the last 10 years and has earned his popularity by taking on both film and TV projects. Recently, he brought us his new work, Shadow, which showcases a different dimension of his acting skills.

Audiences got to know more about him when he appeared on the Chinese version of the reality show Running man. However, some may criticize that involvement in reality shows could undermine his chances of improving his acting skills, which is fundamental to actors and actresses.

Shadow was screened in the Out of Competition at the 43rd Toronto International Film Festival, and at the 75th Venice International Film Festival. They provide more chances to show elements of Chinese traditional culture abroad. This is the direction that Chinese filmmakers are working toward.
